The Apple Launch Happened. Here’s All You Need To Know About It
What you all have been waiting for was finally revealed in the Apple launch event at the Steve Jobs Theater on the 12th of September 2017. Here we are to give you an overview of all the new gadgets and other fun things that Apple released.
The Steve Jobs Theater
First off, we have got to pay respects to the marvellous new building, where Apple presented their new products. A touching tribute to Steve Jobs started the life of this theater on the new Apple campus, as well as the event itself.
Apple Watch Series 3
Although the new Apple Watch looks just like the old one, don’t let it fool you. It has a new game-changing setting in the face of LTE connectivity using an electronic SIM. You will now be able to make calls from your watch, stream music from Apple Music and monitor your heart rate more efficiently due to advanced features.
The orders on the new Apple Watch will start on the 15th of September. Only a few countries will be selling the LTE version for $399. Non-LTE watched will be $329, available in stores from the 22nd of September.
Apple TV 4K
We haven’t seen many updates to the Apple TV lately, so this time we are in for a treat: Apple TV 4K, supporting 4K films and HDR colour profiles. All the movies in iTunes have been upgraded to 4K with no added cost. The Netflix and Amazon video apps should be able to support 4K as well.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
The main course of the event is of course the new version of iPhone: iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Design-wise, it’s very similar to the previous model, yet it features a glass back. Available in three colours: silver, space and grey. Additionally, there’s a new gold finish that looks like a mix of gold and rose gold.
The smartphone features a new A11 Bionic chip, improved camera sensors and image processors, a true tone display. A better GPU in iPhone 8 Plus will allow the users to imitate studio effects with their photography, using the two cameras to analyse the depth.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be coming out on the 22nd of September costing $699 and $799 respectively for the 64GB version. The 256GB version is also available.
iPhone X
To clear all the confusion straight away, it’s pronounced as iPhone ‘Ten’. The unexpected star of the show, this new gadget features a massive edge-to-edge display.
This model is not going to feature the beloved Touch ID, as iPhone X is replacing the Home Button with Face ID. WIth infrared sensors it builds a 3D map of your face (in the dark as well), unlocking your phone with you only having to look at it. Apple guarantees the safety of this feature, promising that all apps relying on Touch ID will be able to use Face ID as well.
Animojis is another iPhone X feature that will allow you to record an audio message and face tracking sensors to create an animal emoji of you.
iPhone X is coming out on the 3rd of November (pre-orders starting on the 27th of October) costing $999 for the 64GB version. The 256GB version is also available.
Air Power
iPhone 8 and iPhone X will support wireless charging with an optional charging case for AirPods. Apple Watch already charges wirelessly. AirPower, the wireless charging device will come out later in 2018. For now you can buy a Qi-compatible wireless charger on Amazon, as Apple is surprisingly using the industry standard.
